Dhanak, the annual cultural fest of IIST, is held every October and stands as a vibrant celebration of the arts. Meaning “rainbow” in Hindi, Dhanak beautifully embodies the diversity of human expression—through music, dance, visual arts, literature, photography, and more.

Dhanak is not just a cultural fest—it’s a 4 days of Celebration of Talent and Diversity - of imagination, talent, and diversity. Over the years, it has hosted a spectrum of events that bring together students from across India, making it one of the most awaited college fests in South India.

What sets Dhanak apart is the legacy of luminaries and Iconic Guests who have graced the event in past editions. Icons like Late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the legendary singer Dr. KJ Yesudas, Academy Award winner Shri. Resul Pookutty, Indian actor, director and script writer, Shri Balachandra Menon, Indian composer, singer, and musician, Shri. M Jayachandran and have been notable amoung the Guests of Honour, inspiring generations of students.

For participants and organizers alike, Dhanak is an unforgettable journey. The meticulous planning, the rush of competitions, the thrill of live performances, and the warmth of community build memories that last a lifetime. Dhanak is not just a festival—it’s where passion meets purpose, and creativity takes flight under the starry October sky of IIST.
