
Dr. Kuruvilla Joseph
Dr Kuruvilla Joseph is the Outstanding Professor & Dean, Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology. He has done post-doctoral, at the Federal University of Paraiba, Brazil and Swedish Institute of Composites (SICOMP), Sweden. He did Ph.D from the NIIST CSIR (formerly RRL TVM) , Thiruvananthapuram in collaboration with School of Chemical Sciences, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. He is currently working on nanomaterials, polymer blends and composites. His H Index is 59, and i10 index is 175. He has more than 15000 citations to his credit. Besides he has published Six academic books by international publishers as author / editor and published more than 25 book chapters and has been invited as speaker for hundreds of National and International Conferences. He has 3 patents and more than 200 international publications in international journals. The academician has produced 22 Ph.Ds and several Master Projects. Choice of research areas include Nanomaterials and Nanocomposites, Polymer Blends and Composites, Synthesis of polymers from natural resources, Green materials and bio-composites, ageing and degradation and development of biosensors.
Prof. Kuruvilla Joseph has been listed among the top 2 percent scientists by Stanford University, across the world in all subject fields. The University has cited Prof. Kuruvilla Joseph under the Life-Time achievement category of citation impact during the calendar year 2019 -2020, 2020 -2021 and 2021-2022, 2022-2023.
Of the top 100 material scientist in India offering credible scientific contributions since 1989, he has been ranked in the 81 position by Research.com, one of the major websites for material science research.
He has been conferred with fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry, London, Fellow of Astronautical Society of India (ASI) and honorary fellowship from Indian Analytical Science Congress (IASC).
He has been deemed worthy of several esteemed awards and honours. A few of them have been enlisted as follows:-Prof.Sivaprasad Award, 2000 instituted by Sivaprasad Foundation, Kollam, for the Best College Teachers in Kerala, The Young Scientist Award`2000, from the Indian Science Congress Association, New Delhi, (Received by the research group), The Mathias Award`95, instituted by All India Association of Christian Higher Education (AIACHE), New Delhi, India, for innovative young college teachers, The Highest Certificate of Merit`94 from the Indian Science Congress Association, New Delhi, for excellence in research, The Young Scientist Award`93, from the Government of Kerala, India are some of them.
Prof Joseph has also been honoured with Linnus-Palme Visiting Scientist Fellowship, Sweden, the DST (India)-DAAD(Germany), Visiting Scientist Fellowship, Martin Luther University, Halle, Germany, the Visiting Researcher Fellowship of Swedish Institute of Composites (SICOMP), Sweden, the Visiting Professor Fellowship of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), Govt. of Brazil, the Visiting Researcher Fellowship of Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi and the Research Associateship of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Govt. of India, New Delhi.
