AICTE sponsored Online Faculty Development Programme on Lifeskills Management.

  • A five-day Faculty development programme was conducted between July 12-16, 2021, which had 136 participants including faculty members from AICTE approved institutions, research scholars, PG scholars, and Industry personnel. The programme started with a formal inauguration by the then Director, Dr. V K Dadhwal and presided over by Dr. Y V N Krishnamurthy, Registrar, IIST.

Lecture series for public Introduction to Stars

  • Prof. Sarita Vig gave a lecture series as part of Astronomy Outreach. Called An Introduction to Stars, the 15-hour online lecture series was for students and public organised by Breakthrough Science Society in association with Astronomical Society of India – Public Outreach and Education Committee, between 19 Sept – 31 Oct 2021. Nearly 800 students have taken the course with exams. The lecture series is available on YouTube here.

Represented Indian team at the IOAA 2021 in Colombia

  • Prof. Sarita Vig represented India as a Team Leader at the XIV International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) online at Bogota, Colombia in 2021. The team of 5 students won 4 Gold medals and 1 Silver medal. In addition, India received the silver medal in the team event. This was the best performance of team India in IOAA.
     

nline Faculty Development Programme on Control and Automation from 14th to 17th December 2021

Department of Avionics organized a 4 days Online Faculty Development Programme on Control and Automation from 14th to 17th December 2021. Resource persons were drawn from different IITs, ISRO, DRDO, IIST etc. Altogether, there were 68 participants from different institutions across the country including faculty members, research scholars, scientists, Engineers etc

Geo-Innovation Challenge

  • Dr Ramiya, Dept of Earth and Space Sciences, received funding support of Rs 3 Lakhs for conducting Geo-Innovation Challenge as part of National Geospatial Capacity Building program from Department of Science and Technology (DST). The theme of the conference was “Geospatial Technology: Geo-enabled technological solutions for realizing smart cities”.

Episteme - 2022

  • IIST in collaboration with Pravaha Foundation, and Agastya International Foundation, Andhra Pradesh organized Episteme-2022, a 2-week immersive residential camp during 6-17 June 2022 in IIST, with a vision of identifying and harnessing India’s ‘Genius Dividend’. This camp was attended by specially abled school children from across the country.

Smart Classroom in Government school

  • IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (APS) Student Branch Chapter of IIST and Government Engineering College Barton Hill, Trivandrum have jointly established a smart classroom in Government Upper Primary School, Ponmudi Kerala in July, 2022. The facility , funded by COPE (Committee on Promotion of Equality) of IEEE AP-S was inaugurated by Prof. YVN Krishna Murthy and Prof. JY Siddiqui in presence of Prof. Chinmoy Saha, Prof. BS Manoj.
