The course deals with design of CMOS VLSI circuits for data converters and high-speed IO interfaces. Various circuits and systems related to the design of Analog-to-digital converters (ADC), Digital-to-analog converters (DAC), high-speed wireless transmitter and receivers. This is an advanced course and requires AV 611 (Analog VLSI Circuits) as the requiste background. This course includes a design project which carries 50% of the credit towards the grade. A commercial 65nm CMOS process is used for design exercises and projects. This course is offered as a core course to the students from MTech - VLSI & Microsystems.
AVM 864: Advanced VLSI Design
Offered: Jan - May 2024, 2025 (shared with Dr. Sheeba Rani)
This course contains multiple modules which include data converter design, high speed IO design (SERDES), memory circuits, ultra-low power digital design, digital verification, etc.
AVM 613: Analog VLSI Circuits
Offered: Aug - Dec 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024
The course covers the analysis and design of CMOS analog VLSI circuits. The design of opamps is the core of the project with its associated circuitry. This course includes a design project which carries 40% of the credit towards the grade. A commercial 65nm CMOS process is used for design exercises and projects. This course is offered as a core course to the students from MTech - VLSI & Microsystems and as an elective to the BTech - Electronics and Communication Engineering.
AV 211: Analog Electronic Circuits & AV 231: Analog Electronic Circuits Lab
Offered: August - Dec 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024
This course deals with the design of analog electronic circuits and systems using BJTs, MOSFETs, op-amps and timer ICs. This is a fundamental course on circuits offered to the 3rd semester students of BTech ECE and BTech Engineering Physics together. The lab course is made interesting with each experiment requiring the student to design for a given set of specifications and implement their circuit on a breadboard and verify the performance. Students are made to appreciate the challenges in real-life engineering problems. The lab course also includes a lab project, where students work in groups to develop a working prototype of a circuit for a particular application.
AV 213: Network Analysis
Offered: Aug - Dec 2020
This course deals with the analysis of basic RL, RC, RLC circuits in time domain and frequency domain. Two-port networks, bode plots and relationships between step response, pole locations and frequency domain performance are covered.
