As part of the space day celebrations, IIST hosted an inspiring talk titled “Aryabhata to Gaganyaan: Ancient Wisdom to Infinite Possibilities” by Shri R. Hutton, Associate Director, LPSC., on 27th August 2025. The session traced India’s incredible journey in space science — from the launch of Aryabhata, the nation’s first satellite, to the ambitious Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission. The event saw active participation from school students, faculty members, and the IIST community. We were honored by the presence of our Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dipankar Banerjee. Shri Hutton was accompanied by two distinguished members from LPSC, who also interacted with the students. A memorable photo was taken with the school students to mark the occasion. As a token of appreciation, Shri Hutton was presented with a special memento — a Milky Way galaxy photograph captured by IIST students.
