Anyons and Topological Quantum Computation
07-03-2025 10:30
The speaker, Prof. Sumathi Rao (ICTS-Endowed Senior Professor at ICTS Bangalore), is an eminent physicist working in the field of theoretical condensed matter physics. In this talk, Prof. Rao gave an introduction to anyons as emergent excitations in condensed matter systems. As an explicit example, she described the one-dimensional Kitaev model for Majorana fermions. She also touched upon the extension to non-abelian anyons and how they can be used in topological quantum computing.
